Eugene Nunez
After battling cancer for twelve years, our father, grandfather, brother, and uncle, Eugene Nunez, passed away peacefully on November 13, 2016. He is reunited with his wife, Vesta, as they celebrate their 51st anniversary in Heaven. Eugene was born in Westwood, CA on December 11, 1935. He earned his teaching credential at Chico State and then served in the Korean War. He moved to Galt in 1961 and was hired as a math teacher at Galt High School where he taught for 38 years before retiring in 1999. Eugene was preceded in death by his parents, Manuel and Katherine Nunez; his wife, Vesta Sartini Nunez; and his sister, Pat. He is survived by his sons, Anthony (Andi) Nunez and Mark Nunez; his grandsons, Nicolas, Christian, and Logan; his sister, Elva Chapman, and his nieces and nephews. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 12:00 noon until 8:00 p.m. and Thursday from 8:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Lodi Funeral Home. Recitation of the Holly Rosary will be said on Thursday at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Christopher Parish on Friday, November 18, at 11:00 a.m. with committal to follow at Galt-Arno Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, you may make a donation to the Galt Historical Society.
