Joyce Elizabeth Babcock, of Lodi, passed away on April 9, 2017, at the age of 87. Joyce was born on July 28, 1929, in Fresno, California to John Perry and Nellie Madeline (Dougherty) LeHew. She moved to Lodi with her family as a young girl. Joyce attended Lodi schools. While in high school, Joyce was a Grape Festival Princess. After graduating from high school, she went to Humphreys Business College. She then worked at F & M Bank in Lodi. Joyce met Howard Babcock, and they were married October 28, 1949. Joyce was co-owner of Howard’s Delicatessen with her husband. She was a member of First Christian Church, as well as Rebekah’s Lodge and Eastern Star organizations. She loved to play golf and do embroidery. Joyce is survived by her sons, John (Sybil) Babcock and Robert (Kimberly) Babcock; daughters, Gayle (Mark) Shimozaki and Lisa Singer; grandchildren, Jason Shimozaki, Nicole Shimozaki, Stacy Parker, Tamra Ney, Krissy Silvia, Felisha Bowman, and Sara and Emily Bennett; and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Nellie LeHew; husband, Howard Homer Babcock; and grandson, Neal Eugene Singer. Joyce will be very missed. She was loved by many who knew her. There is no visitation, and committal will be private.
