Obituary for Elizabeth Mary "Betty" Clausen

Elizabeth Mary "Betty" Clausen
Elizabeth (Betty) Clausen passed away peacefully on January 7, 2017, with her daughters by her side. She was born to the late Frank and Elizabeth Seufert on June 4, 1929, in Two Rivers, WI. She graduated from University of Wisconsin-Stout, with a B.S. degree in nutrition.

She began working as a dietitian in Chicago, IL. In 1956, she went to a party and met the love of her life, Donald Clausen. They fell in love and were married Dec. 27, 1956. They later lived in Elizabeth, NJ, Lima, Peru, and Phoenix, AZ before settling in Lodi, CA. They had 3 daughters; Christine, Carolyn and Claudia.

After retiring as a dietitian, she and Don enjoyed traveling the world. Betty was always intrigued by a good conversation and the stories of others. Her daughter referred to her as “Betty Walters” for her inquisitive nature. Her biggest joys in life were her family and her faith in Jesus Christ. She was a member of St. Anne’s Church for 52 years.

Betty was known for her sweet and gentle nature, along with her sense of style, which she wore elegantly. If it sparkled or had fur - that made it even better. She worked hard her entire life and enjoyed staying busy with projects. But her greatest love was spending time with her family. Included in this was how prideful she was of her children and grandchildren; she had a strong belief in their life goals. She encouraged and supported them unconditionally.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Don in 2014; and her daughter, Carolyn Estrada in 2015. She is survived by her daughters, Christine Clausen of
L. A. and Claudia Iturraran of Lodi; grandchildren, Nick Iturraran of Alameda and Brooke Iturraran of San Mateo.
Please join us for a celebration of Betty’s life, on Sunday, January 22, from 2-4 p.m. at the Woman's Club of Lodi, 325 W. Pine St.
