Obituary for
Rebecca Gene "Becky" Russell
Rebecca Gene Russell, long time resident of Lodi, and native Californian, passed away on Tuesday, October 4, 2016 at the age of 88.
Becky was born to farmers, Bob & Florence Cooper in Livingston, CA, on August 26, 1928. She was raised in the Livingston and lived most of her life in the San Joaquin Valley. She had a 30 year career as hair salon owner in the Valley and in San Leandro.
She and husband, Bob, retired from Oakland to Lodi in the mid 1980’s, and quickly became an integral part of the community. They became square dancers, traveling extensively with the Lodi Promenaders, and creating lasting friendships. She was an avid volunteer, working at the local blood bank, Hutchins Street Square Senior Center, and election voting sites. Becky’s faith was extremely important to her. As a member of the Grace Presbyterian community, she served the church in a variety of capacities, including serving as a deacon.
She was predeceased by her husband of 59 years. She is survived by: her sister, Barbara Cooper Spratling; three children, Donna (Arnie), John (Pattee), and Robert (Laura); six grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.
Services will be held at the Winton Cemetery, Winton, CA on Tuesday, October 11 at 1:00.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Grace Presbyterian Church, Lodi or Optimal Hospice, Stockton.
